Production was halted in March 2020 due to government restrictions
Chronology
A retired CIA agent is haunted by both the agency he once worked for and his own nightmares when he is suddenly visited by an unknown man after nearly three decades. During this time, Jeff Bridges was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, then treated. Once he had recovered, the series went back into production.
Presented at the 75th Primetime Emmy Awards (2024)
Bridges referred to the return as coming back from a "long weekend" for podcast in July 2022. This show starts off really strong with great action and a slow unfolding of backstory that keeps you hooked. Once you get to episode 4, things don’t go so well.
Lithgow and Bridges are great
The Shawcat is a sort of boat anchor that delivers every line almost monotonously. None of the characters are particularly lovable. As the plot development and action slows down after a few episodes, a lot of awkward dialogue fills their place.
How much more will a bad copy
It seems clear that the writers tried to recreate the style of Cormac McCarthy’s script for The Counselor, but didn’t do such a great job. The adviser’s more literary style confused many viewers. I’ll keep watching hoping things get better.
