A brilliant drama directed by Hu Guang from China, it’s no wonder it won the top honor in the Un Certain Regard sidebar at Cannes this year. The story is about a guy who returns home after a stint in prison and takes a job to rid the city of stray dogs in time for the Olympics.
The drama is set on the edge of the Gobi Desert in northwest China
However, he unexpectedly forms a bond with a black dog, and the two are thrown into a new adventure. The film’s dog star received a dog award earlier in the day as he received the Palm Dog Grand Jury Prize!
