A grieving therapist begins to tell his clients exactly what he thinks
Ignoring his training and ethics, he finds himself making huge changes in people’s lives, including his own. When Brett Goldstein, Jason Segel, and Bill Lawrence were asked how they got Harrison Ford to join the show, Segel said that Goldstein originally wanted “a Harrison Ford type”; and was prepared to audition people who looked like Ford. Segel told Goldstein that they should at least bring it to Ford first, thinking he would immediately reject it, but at least other people would hear that the project was brought to Harrison Ford, generating interest from other notable actors.
The acting was great
In the end, Goldstein talked to Ford and sold him the role. Goldstein still doesn’t understand what he did to convince him, but he was elated nonetheless. Featured on WatchMojo: The 10 Best TV Shows of 2023 (So Far) (2023). This was a solid production and a very unique storyline.
Is it perfect?
I love how each character embraces their flaws and shows vulnerability and uses humor to promote spiritual growth. Shrinking has a lot of heartfelt, awkward, lighthearted, sweet, and laugh-out-loud moments. I hope they keep making more seasons because the character development warrants it. No.
But none of us are
I think the overuse of profanity takes away from the overall power potential here. It’s almost as if the writers are forcefully making the show edgy. I personally don’t think it was necessary. That’s why I gave it an 8.
