Windows 11 Pro overview
Windows 11. The main part of this announcement was supposed to be the introduction of major user interface changes, codenamed Sun Valley. As you know, a significant part of the UX changes are borrowed from the Windows 10X shell, and Windows 10X will not be released. Now, as expected, the Windows 11 leaks begin.
Features of Windows 11 Pro
Windows 11 gets a completely new look. Microsoft clearly needs a good reason to retract its previous claims and still abandon Windows 10 by introducing a new operating system number. And the all-new design matches it perfectly. The Redmond giant has been preparing for a long time the redesign of the update under its code name Sun Valley (“Sun Valley”) – apparently it was Windows 11 under this name The Sun Valley project flashed online for a long time – Microsoft regularly revealed information about the new interface style, shared with previously unknown information insiders and popular in their circles the designers developed realistic concepts based on all this information.
Home and system elements float above the bottom bar. Start is the business card and face of all the latest versions of Windows. It is not surprising that in Windows 11, developers change it again, but not so much in terms of functionality as in terms of visuals – the Start window is above the bottom bar. Although, these small changes make the system look much fresher. Based on information from the web, Microsoft does not radically change the “inside” of this menu – the updates only affect the design of the window itself. The control panel also floats and has the exact same design as Start. The function center is combined with the control buttons – something similar has been used in some other operating systems for a long time. Almost every mention of this new menu indicates that it will be an island – the controls are in one separate panel, the notifications in another, and certain elements (like the player) in another separate panel.
Straight corners disappear and are replaced by fillets. In fact, insiders and concept designers do not agree on this point – some are sure that Microsoft will not change its traditions and will stick to the right angle, while others are sure that in 2021 Microsoft will follow the fashion of fillets. The latter fits more into the “all new Windows” definition – hovering over menus isn’t enough to make a new look truly new. Fillets are expected to affect practically everything in the system, from context menus and system panels to all application windows. True, the opinions of concept designers differ on this issue as well – some draw fillets to all possible interface elements, others connect to right angles.
There is transparent background and blur everywhere. There are disagreements online about the style of the window display islands, the design of the corners and the levitation effect of the menu, but almost everyone agrees on the transparency of the windows. Most leaks and design renders show transparency and blur in all windows, whether it’s at least the Start menu or Explorer. Moreover, these effects are even present in the configuration of the canceled Windows 10X operating system, which Microsoft developed in parallel with the Sun Valley project for devices with two screens and weak hardware. The so-called acrylic transparency means the use of new effects when hovering over the elements and the increased distance between the elements – the areas of the user interface with which the user interacts will certainly grow and the page titles will be condensed.
A new font that is already displayed. Windows 11 will likely use the default responsive Segoe UI Variable font, which has already appeared in Windows 10 Build 21376 for Insiders.
